A Smoothie A Day Keeps the Doctor Away

If you follow me on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram you know that I love smoothies more than anything!

Well, maybe not more than margaritas. But it's really really close.

I've been fortunate to always have relatively good health, but without fail I usually catch some sort of cold 3-4 times/ year. And one of those bouts usually knocks me out for a 2-3 days. 

But (knock on wood) since I started drinking smoothies at the beginning of 2013, I have not been sick ALL YEAR. That's almost a full 7 months of no coughing, sneezing, wheezing, runny noses, or anything!  Amazing.

I've also bumped up my workout regimen and started doing more yoga to keep my stress levels down. But, I truly believe smoothies are keeping my immunity defenses on full protection mode. Thank GOD. Because ain't nobody got time for expensive a** health care.

Below are the ingredients that I always incorporate in my morning smoothies. I've written a post about the benefits of Chia Seeds (click HERE to read it) and each week I'll post the benefits about a different ingredient.

  • Chia Seeds, read about their benefits, HERE, or Flax
  • Kale or Spinach
  • Fresh or Frozen Fruit
  • Banana
  • Organic Juice
  • Kefir
  • That's it! And it only takes 3-5 minutes out of my morning. So NO EXCUSES!
