Three things you need to do to have a rocking 4th Quarter

OMG. Can you believe it's almost October?! Where has the time gone.

With only 3 months left in the year, it's the perfect time to reflect on those $$$ goals we set wayyyy back on January 1st. How close are you to breaking through your income goals in your business? Are you over or under budget for the year?

It's time to reflect, get focused and KILL it so you can finish the 2014 strong.

My oasis. The rose garden near my home where I reflect and create my business plans.

My oasis. The rose garden near my home where I reflect and create my business plans.

Every 3 months, I take an afternoon to reflect on how the previous quarter went and how close I am to my goals.

And then I create a plan for the next three months. Are you guilty of setting lofty goals at the beginning of the year and not taking the time throughout the year to see how close you are to achieving them? Let's put an end to that now and create a plan to finish the year strong!

What are the three things you need to do to make sure your 2014 goals are achieved?

  1. Organization: If you've been keeping up with your bookkeeping, this will be easy. All you have to do is run your income statement report (or ask your accountant for it) and review your income and expenses, and how they match to your goals and budget plans. If you haven't been using a bookkeeping program, then you need to go through all of your bank/credit card transactions for 2014 and reconcile them. AKA categorize them according to the bucket they fall in. Have a monthly $40 charge from AT&T? That should probably go into your Internet bucket. Once you've organized this year's transactions, then you can figure out how much money you've made vs. how much you've spent.
  2. Reflection: Using the information from your bookkeeping, think about what went well these past 3 months? 6 months? Which services or products sold really well and which ones gave you the most joy? Also think about areas of improvement. Were there any services or products that took wayyyy too much time and energy for a very small return? Did you overspend on marketing, meals and entertainment? Or do you need to spend more to see bigger results?
  3. Action: Create a plan for the next 3 months. Start with how much money you want to earn and which service(s) you want to offer. Think about how you're going to spread the word...weekly blog posts, free webinars, host events? How much money is it going to take to market these offerings? Do you need to hire a graphic designer, an assistant, a videographer?
