Big news in celebrity business is Emily Schuman's partnership with Birchbox (a membership program that sends out monthly boxes full of beauty and grooming samples) and her upcoming book release.
You may remember Emily from the MTV reality show, The Hills. Emily has since become a successful marketing consultant, founder of the very popular lifestyle blog Cupcakes and Cashmere and now a mom to a beautiful little baby.
And her latest venture is bound to be very exciting!
Partnering with Birchbox, she is curating beauty products to create a special Cupcakes & Cashmere box. Couple that with her book release, she has been on a PR blitz with a recent story in US Magazine.
This isn't the first big partnership for Emily. The lifestyle blogger, who was among the first to shape the industry, had previously partnered with Coach to design a beautiful pink bag.
What can you learn from Emily's business strategy?
As a small business owner, reach out and align your company with one or two big brands that have a similar mission. It's a great revenue stream and also a great way to get additional exposure.
As a financial professional, although I like a lot of accounting software products, my brand most closely aligns with Xero. They pride themselves on having a clean, beautiful design. And celebrate individuality and creativity. I host events with them and help their marketing team reach more lady entrepreneurs.
Take action now: Make a list of 3 large companies that fits closely with your brand. Then brainstorm ways you can partner with them and reach out! Don't be afraid to get in touch with their marketing or PR team. Remember, they are all humans just like you.
